DTM at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz, 2nd Round – 2009
After his good start in his DTM debut at the Hockenheimring Johannes Seidlitz went optimisticly to the EuroSpeedway Lausitz north of Dresden. On Saturday morning the free practice was scheduled after the roll-out on Friday evening. At the beginning of the free practice Johannes and his team, KOLLES Futurecom-TME, did pit-stop practice then Johannes did according to plan his laps on the track with the length of 3478metres.
Just before the end of the free practice an incident happened - a small mistake had serious consequences. At turn 3 Johannes drove on the grass pavers on the right and spun into the crash barrier on the left. I drove too far to the right on the grass pavers where it was a bit damp and I couldn’t keep the car on the track so that I hit the crash barrier with the rear of the car. That was the end of the race weekend for me before it had even started. It seems that in the accident the chassis got damaged which meant that my car couldn’t be repaired on-site.“
Luckily Johannes was uninjured and he left the Lausitz disappointed on Saturday afternoon. Despite the incident he is confidently looking forward to the next race at the Norisring (Nürnberg) in four weeks. The race at the Norisring is my home race and I am really happy to be able to drive there again after 2007.“
